Inspirational Home Accessory Ideas: "Dream" Glass Vase

Inspirational home accessories are definitely a trend that lines the shelves of home decor shops and department stores. From wall art to candle holders, pieces with a sweet or sentimental message are very popular. Instead of spending a fortune on such an item, consider this simple 'Dream' glass vase craft.

For this project, you will need:

- One five inch by five inch square glass vase (such as the one found here at Save-On-Crafts)

- Soap and water

- Paper towels

- Shrink paper

- Three inch or larger typewriter print mounted rubber alphabet stamps

- Other mounted rubber stamp designs (optional)

- Black permanent ink

- Scissors

- Cookie sheet

- Oven

- Dimensional glue

- Toothpick or stylus

- Gorilla Glue

- Acrylic finishing spray

The first step in this project is to wash the five inch by five inch square glass vase with soap and water. Dry the vase completely with paper towels. Set aside.

Lay the shrink paper flat on your work area. With three inch or larger alphabet stamps and black permanent ink, stamp out the letters for the word "dream" onto the paper. Cut out each letter individually. Lay the letters onto the cookie sheet gently. (If you are using any other stamped designs for your vase, now is the time to stamp them onto the shrink paper and continue as directed.) Shrink the paper in the over according to the manufacturer's directions. Cool completely.

Place the square glass vase on its side. Apply a bit of Gorilla Glue to the back of one of the shrunken letters. Adhere the letter to the glass. Repeat with the remaining letters, spelling out the word "dream". Allow the glue to dry completely.

Apply a generous amount of dimensional glue to one of the letters. Spread the glue towards the edges of the letter using a toothpick or stylus. Continue to do this step with each of the letters until all are complete.

Once the dimensional glue has dried, apply a generous amount of acrylic finishing spray to the project. Dry overnight. While this project is very fun and creative when finished, it is hand wash only.
